What skin do I have? tips to understand our skin type

Nowadays, thanks to social media, we find ourselves increasingly bombarded with advice and products; many times, however, what is good for a person we admire is not suitable for our skin. The starting point to avoid making mistakes is to understand what type of skin you have and consequently not to make mistakes: an excellent product for oily skin may not work for dry skin and vice versa.

Today we try to give you some tips on a "test" that you can do to understand your skin type.

The simplest "mechanical" method to understand what type of skin you have is the handkerchief method.

After washing your face with a delicate cleanser and waiting an hour without putting any product on your face, you must open a handkerchief by dividing the various veils and keeping only one, very thin one. Place the handkerchief on your face for a couple of seconds, making it adhere well and then remove it, checking the result:

  • if the tissue has traces of oil all over your face, then you have an oily skin type
  • if the tissue has traces of oil only on the T-zone then you have a combination skin type
  • if the tissue has no visible traces of oil, then you have a normal skin type .
  • if, however, you feel that after an hour without products on your skin your skin is tight, then you have a dry skin type .

Other useful tips to understand what type of skin you have are by carefully observing your face and the sensations we have:

  • Normal Skin: The pores are small and the skin is smooth, without products on the face the skin is in a comfortable state
  • Dry Skin: Has flaking at its most noticeable, but overall the skin feels tight, especially after cleansing.
  • Oily Skin: Shiny skin, presence of acne and evident pores. Many times when you pass your finger on your cheek you feel a slightly "greasy" film.
  • Combination Skin: Some areas are dry, usually the cheeks while other parts are more oily.
  • Sensitive Skin: Reactive to some cosmetics, presents redness, itching, rashes.

We hope we have helped you with these tips, let us know if they have helped you clarify your skin type!
